The Legend of Zelda is an open-world action-adventure game released in 1986 and '87 by Nintendo for the Famicom and NES. It was later re-released for the Famicom in 1994. The player plays as Link, who can collect items to attack enemies and solve puzzles throughout the land of Hyrule.
